boozy oranges & cranberries

yield 10 to 12 servings

10 very firm oranges
orangecello
2 cups cranberries, cooked
5 tablespoons sugar
2 cinnamon sticks (3 in. each)
6 cloves
2 star anise

to make simple syrup, take equal parts water and sugar, put in pot over very low heat. add star anise, cinnamon and cloves to syrup mixture. stir to incorporate. watch carefully. once the sugar has dissolved, remove from heat. once the syrup has cooled completely, put into container and chill.

slice oranges into round segments, removing most pith. place oranges, orangecello (or other orange liqueur) to cover, and let soak in the refrigerator for a minimum of 12 hours.

soak cranberries in cranberry vodka for a minimum of 12 hours in the refrigerator.

when ready to serve, combine oranges and cranberries, along with syrup and spices.
